Holes

I have had a lot of dumb days. These are the sorts of days about checking off awful tasks like painting a ceiling or inputting data to spreadsheets.  A few of my dumbest were spent out in the dirt, moving earth one shovel scoop at a time. Initially this task was more of a struggle than anything productive. The shovel was probably the wrong kind and the poor technique was for sure a result of the prior. Digging holes can reveal one’s truest desires, inner thoughts, and breaking points. If someone happens to use the wrong shovel, causing poor technique, resulting in endless struggle, they may question and curse every life choice that led them to that hole in the first place. This is not necessarily a recommendation, just possible side effect. Of course holes are not typically dug for mental health introspections. Usually either one just needs the material outcome of a hole or they are getting paid.
