Gradients

The summer I began this gradient process a group of artists came over for a studio visit. They were a bunch of semi-strangers with no printmakers among them. Papers soaked in messy split-fountains were scattered around the walls and floor where they dried. The comment that stuck was that “it's always so interesting to see someone who doesn't know how to do printmaking try”. At the time I had a fellowship where my sole job was to produce silkscreen prints for an editions program. I definitely did know how to properly make prints. I had just reached a point where it was no longer automatic to try.
